The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

NISM had organised a Masterclass on Behavioural Finance & Decision Making during November 10-11, 2016 at Hotel Fortune Select Exotica, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.

The Master Trainer of the programme was Dr. Arman Eshraghi, a Senior Lecturer in Finance and Accounting and Director of MSc Finance and Investment at the University of Edinburgh and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He is BEng and MBA from Sharif University and PhD in Finance from the University of Edinburgh.

Mr. Jitendra Kumar, Member of Faculty (On Deputation from SEBI), was the Programme Director.

The key focus of the programme was to enable participants to understand how behavioural finance helps in financial decision making. Apart from above, the emphases of the programme was also on the following areas –

  • Recent advances in the area of behavioural finance
  • Neuro-Finance and Emotional Finance
  • Psychometric tests & analysis of the results

The participants for the programme were from reputed institutions like SEBI, PFRDA, TrustPlutus Wealth Managers (I) Pvt Ltd., BNP Paribas Asset Management India Pvt. Ltd., Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company, Symbiosis School of Banking & Finance, Auro University and NISM.

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Sandip Ghose, Director, NISM. He had discussed in detail about the importance and necessity of training and knowledge upgradation for any one working in the financial markets.

The valedictory address was delivered by Mr. Jayanta Jash, CGM, SEBI. The participants were given Certificate of Participation at the end of the programme.
