National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) in association with Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar (IIT BBS) organized two days’ workshop on Trading in Equity via Webinar Mode during 26-27 May, 2022. The 43 participants of this programme were from eminent organizations including IITs, NITs, IIMs, Delhi School of Economics, Central Universities and State Universities along with the market participants from various organizations.
Dr. Naresh Chandra Sahu, Program Coordinator, IIT Bhubaneswar welcomed the guests and faculties. The Chief Guest Prof. S. K. Mohapatra, Dean, Continuing Education, IIT Bhubaneswar addressed the participants citing the significance of engineers in the securities markets and encouraging the participants to start their own investments. Dr. Latha Chari, Professor and HOD, SSIR, NISM briefed the participants about two days’ workshop, on the role of NISM for investors education and financial literacy along with the significance of personal finance. Dr. Pradiptarathi Panda, Assistant Professor, NISM thanked to chief guest, all the participants, faculty members and other personnel of NISM & IIT BBS.
On the first day, Dr. Latha Chari taught the participants on Overview of Financial Markets, Market Operations- Trading, Clearing and Settlement Process, Trading/Investment Products, Cash Market, Trading Rules, Order types – Price condition. Dr. Pradiptarathi Panda delivered lecture on hands on with Live Market, session – Trading operations in equity, Margins and Risk Management – Client Level. The second day of the programme was delivered by Mr. Meraj Inamdar, faculty member, NISM on Technical Analysis Candlesticks, Moving Averages, Bollinger Bands & RSI, back testing of technical indicators. Valedictory address was given by Dr. Latha Chari followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. Pradiptarathi Panda.
