The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

NISM is conducting a Training Programme on Investigating Economic Crimes in Securities Market for the participants from Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB) at its Patalganga Campus from September 06-09, 2022. The inaugural function of the Programme was held on September 06, 2022. 

Dr. Ranjith Krishnan, Head, Academic Programme Unit welcomed Dr. CKG Nair, Director, NISM and the participating officers.

Dr. CKG Nair, Director, NISM, during his inaugural address spoke about the regulatory structure of the securities market. He touched upon the important role being played by SEBI and the Market Infrastructure Institutions. He briefly explained to the participants the regulatory powers of Stock Exchanges. He also discussed a few typical violations in the securities market i.e. price manipulation, front running, insider trading, etc. and how SEBI tries to address them through Regulations and Quasi-judicial orders.  He also mentioned the administrative Settlement Proceedings of SEBI.

29 officers from across the country are attending the training programme. Experts from SEBI and other professionals having wide experience in the securities market will be addressing the
participants in the coming days.
