The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

Quanteminar 2016, organized by students and faculty of PGDQF in collaboration with Dept. of Economics (Autonomous), University of Mumbai was held on July 14, 2016, at Sofitel, BKC. Quanteminar 2016 was supported by Bombay Stock Exchange.

Quanteminar 2016 made an attempt to bring together professionals from banks, rating agencies and insurance companies and data providers to provide a discussion forum for new ideas in quantitative modelling and regulation of financial risks. The event started with the welcome address by Prof. Neeraj Hatekar- Director, Dept. of Economics, University of Mumbai. Mr. G. Mahalingam-ED, Reserve Bank of India was the Chief Guest at the event. Professionals like Mr. Ashish Kumar Chouhan- CEO, BSE, Mr.Manish Sinha- Country Head, Equifax, Mr. Sameer Shah- CFO, HDFC Ergo, Mr. Asim Mahmood- ED Nomura, Mr. Venkatachalam Shanmugam-Chief Economist, MCX and Mr. Raghuvir Mukharji- Head-Risk Management, Reliance Capital Asset Management graced the event with their Keynote addresses.

Areas covered in the event were Big Data, Market Risk, Insurance Risk, Quantitative Finance, Regulatory Policies and Algorithmic trading techniques. The event was attended by a large number of professionals from the quant, analytics community as well as trading professionals and students. The event concluded with the summing up address by Mr. Sandip Ghose- Director, NISM.
