The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) successfully organized a comprehensive five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Empowering Educators by Building their Expertise in Securities Markets” from 26th May to 30th May 2025 at its Patalganga Campus. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 120+ faculty members of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) across India. The programme aimed to strengthen the financial acumen of academic professionals and equip them with updated knowledge on various aspects of the securities markets. The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Rachana Baid, Dean – Academics, NISM. The Inaugural Address was delivered by Shri Sunil Kadam, Registrar – NISM, setting the tone for a high-impact learning experience.Shri Shashi Krishnan, Director–NISM, delivered the Special Address, highlighting India’s economic ascent with a focus on financialization, capital market growth, regulatory reforms, and digitalization.

The programme began with foundational insights into securities markets and investment instruments, led by Mr. Sunil Gawde and Dr. Kapil Shrimal. On Day 2, Dr. Rachana Baid addressed investor behaviour and financial planning, followed by Dr. Dhiraj Jain, who provided in-depth coverage of mutual funds and their regulatory landscape.

Day 3 featured Mr. Kunj Bansal highlighting professional development through NISM, and Dr. Dhiraj Jain delivering sessions on equity derivatives, followed by a simulation lab with Dr. Meraj Inamdar for practical exposure to trading strategies.

Day 4 focused on research analysis, with Dr. Jinesh Panchali and Mr. Madhav Mehta covering risk-return fundamentals, industry analysis, financial statements, and valuation techniques.

The final day introduced participants to Portfolio Management Services (PMS) and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) with Dr. Jatin Trivedi, and concluded with Dr. Kirti Arekar’s hands-on session on data science applications and visualization tools in financial markets. The programme culminated with a valedictory session, leaving participants enriched with updated knowledge and practical skills for their academic and professional roles.
