The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

Comprehensive Overview of Securities Markets

The Workshop on ‘A Comprehensive Overview of Securities Markets’ was held during July20-24, 2015 at Hotel IBIS,Turbhe,Navi Mumbai for the benefit of RBI Officers. The prime objective of workshop was to make participants aware and update on the basic concepts, processes and regulations of Securities Markets.

The programme got inaugurated in the hands on Shri SandipGhose, Director, NISM wherein he placed an emphasis on the need of training for regulators. The topics discussed in the workshop includes; Concepts and Terminologies of Securities Market, Primary and Secondary Market, Securities Market Intermediaries, Scams in Securities Market, Regulation and Supervision of Securities Market Intermediaries, Insider Trading, Pooled Investment Vehicles (MF and CIS), New Pooled Investment Vehicles (AIF, REITs and others), High Frequency and Algo Trading, Basics of Derivatives, Handling of Investors Grievances in SEBI, Corporate Governance, Importance of Financial Literacy; Financial Planning – a Life Skill, Trading on Stock Exchange – Live through Simulator.

A field visit to BSE and CDSL was also arranged for the participants to give the Operational understanding of these organizations.

The Speakers were the persons of eminence including Senior Professionals having experience of handling key positions in SEBI, Stock Exchange and Depository and officers of SEBI deputed at NISM.
