(NISM)

The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. The institute carries out a wide range of capacity building activities at various levels aimed at enhancing the quality standards in securities markets.

SRSS has conducted a 5-day residential programme on “Overview of Indian Securities Market for Students of BICM” during April 23-27, 2018 at NISM Campus, Patalganga . All the participants were having work experience in the capital market.

Following topics amongst others were covered during programme:

  • Evolution of Indian Securities Markets.
  • Mutual Fund – Evolution, Operations, Regulatory Framework.
  • Equity Valuation using Excel.
  • Equity Derivatives – Future and Options.
  • Commodity Derivatives – Evolution and Regulatory framework.
  • Introduction and valuation of Alternative Investments Funds, Hedge funds, Private Equity.
  • SEBI (Portfolio Manager) Regulations 1993, Portfolio Strategies.
  • Takeover, Merger and Acquisition.

*Hands on Session -On trading in simulated environment on Equity Cash & Derivatives.

The field visits to SEBI, MCX and BSE were also organized.

The Valedictory address was given by Dr. M. Thenmozhi, Director, NISM

The Certificate of Participation was also awarded by Dr. M. Thenmozhi, Director, NISM, to all the participants at the end of the programme. The programme was well received and highly appreciated by the participants.
